Seeking Safety and Opportunity
Single Lady from Kolkata
As a single woman in my 30s living in Kolkata, I sometimes feel a little uneasy about my life. Personal safety, a healthy living environment and recreational activities, all of these important aspects in life can be said to be less than ideal in Kolkata. As well, I'm sure it's no surprise to hear that our city can sometimes be overwhelmingly busy. Basically, I guess I prefer to live in a place where I can enjoy a bit more security, have a bit more space and feel a bit more at ease.
So anyway, whilst this was going on inside me, I discovered MM2H, that's to say, the
Malaysia My Second Home visa. And TBH, it seemed like just the perfect solution for me, and everybody like me, really, everyone looking to start fresh in a country that offers great quality of life, a happy lifestyle
and plenty of opportunities for work, recreation and personal development.
Malaysia's appeal for me was multifaceted. Firstly, the country is known for its low crime rate and general safety, which was a significant factor in my decision to apply for this particular Golden Visa. As a woman, feeling safe in my environment is super important and Malaysia offers that reassurance. Additionally, the country's multicultural society and kind-hearted locals make it a welcoming place for expats.
Johor and Singapore
I decided to buy a home in Johor, close to the Singapore border. Johor Bahru, or JB, as its known colloquially, is a growing city with a lot of potential. This applies especially to the data centre industry here, which is one of the booming sectors in Malaysia. With my background in IT, I'm confident that I'll be able to find work in the area. In fact, with JB's proximity to Singapore, I think there will be even more opportunities for career growth and development across the Causeway. But I first want to make JB my home.
The MM2H visa offers fantastic financial incentives, which are ideal for someone in my position. For example, the cost of living in Malaysia is much lower than in Kolkata, allowing me to make the most of my savings, whilst still enjoying quite a comfortable lifestyle. In actual fact, the affordable JB housing market, coupled with the low cost of everyday expenses, means that I can live well, the life of an expat even. Courtesy of all these financial tailwinds, I enjoy a considerable discretionary income.
Modern Malaysia
Moreover, Malaysia's healthcare system is excellent
and affordable, quite a contrast to what we're used to in India, I hesitate to say. But, like most people, to me, my health is particularly important and so it gives me peace of mind knowing that I have access to quality, yet affordable medical care whenever I should require it.
Moreover, the country's infrastructure is also impressive, with efficient public transport, well-maintained roads and modern amenities that make daily life convenient and stress-free.
I'm also excited about the food and culture in Malaysia. Being 100% Indian, I crave my Indian dishes, so it's great to see that Malaysia, with its diverse cuisine, including lots of Indian influences, makes use of Indian herbs and spices too. As a matter of fact, when it comes to food, Malaysia feels like I'm home away from home. And the availability of Indian cultural festivals and community centres makes it even easier for me to stay connected to my motherland, all the while embracing my new life in Malaysia. In a word, ideal.
Ultimately, the MM2H visa has been a game-changer for me. It's given me the opportunity to live in a country that offers safety, a pleasant life, along with a great number of financial benefits. In fact, you could say that, vis-a-vis Kolkata, I've actually elevated my lifestyle quite a bit.
I'm now looking forward to this new chapter and am really rather thankful to MM2H and to my MM2H agent for making it all possible.
Incidentally, most of the MM2H details I learned during my research came from
